I have read on that the user 'chrisp_duck' seems to have accidently got it working for a blink of an eye, when he accidently switched the USB ports for different webcams. The camera chip seems not/incorrectly to be supported. What happened instead: Device not found when starting guvcview, Skype, cheese etc. What I had expected: Device would be recognized and the camera would be usable in at least in one linux application. 'Bus 004 Device 009: ID 1b3b:2936 iPassion Technology Inc. The microscope shows up like this when typing 'ls-usb': I assume that's why neither the camera nor the built-in microphone of the microscope is usable by these webcam applications like Skype, guvcview, cheese etc. When I tried to get my Traveler SU 1071 USB microscope working with my fully patched Ubuntu 9.10 (32bit), I stumbled upon the problem, that it is only half-way recognized as a USB device (with a known ID) when plugged in. Hi friends! Thanks for reading my first Ubuntu bug report.
